Committees

Ethics Committee

Mr. Blaylock served on the Montgomery County Bar Association’s Ethics Committee chaired by attorney Sam M. Shapiro, which provided among other things, a “hot-line” for lawyers to call when they had an ethical issue which they needed an opinion. Upon receiving such a question, the committee would convene and create a recommendation for how the lawyer should handle the situation.

Inter-Professional Committee

Mr. Blaylock has served on the Montgomery County Bar Association’s Inter-Professional committee whose primary focus related to finding solutions to the conflicts which often arise between the doctors and lawyers. One noteworthy accomplishment was the successful drafting of an “Assignment and Authorization” endorsed by both the Bar and the Medical Society setting forth the language necessary to protect a physician in the event he or she agrees to wait until the end of a personal injury case to get paid. That document has been upheld in Court and is still in use today across the region.

Personal Injury Committee

Mr. Blaylock has served on the Personal Injury Committee of the Montgomery County Bar Association, which had a variety of roles. This work included reviewing the most noteworthy verdicts coming out of the Courthouse and preparing summaries for publication to keep the members of the Bar informed on such matters.
