Community Participation

Mr. Blaylock and his team are committed to both improving the lives of his clients and to giving back to the community by supporting local charities and other organizations that help improve the well-being of those in need.

That commitment is reflected in the firm’s culture—whether through pro bono work for clients, active participation in community events, or individual acts of giving.

Mr. Blaylock was awarded the esteemed President’s Citation for Community Service by the Montgomery County Bar Association for his role in creating, executing and participating in a number of significant programs designed to help local communities.

Law School For the Public

As a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, Mr. Blaylock created a series of free seminars for the public to attend addressing various aspects of the law.

He named it “Law School For The Public”. Working in conjunction with A. Howard Metro, (the President of the Montgomery County Bar Association at the time), and attorney Jordan M. Spivok, Mr. Blaylock launched this series in which preeminent local attorneys would give presentations on specific issues followed by intensive question and answer periods from the audience. Twenty one years later, this program is still going strong, and the programs can even now be seen on the cable public access channel.

Mock DWI-Trial for High School Students

As a member of the Montgomery Bar Association, Mr. Blaylock created an educational program for high school students designed to warn them of the dangers of drinking and driving. This program was called the Mock Dwi-Trial For High School Students.

For each program, Mr. Blaylock would enlist a Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge, a Montgomery County Police Officer, a prosecutor from the Montgomery County States Attorney office and a criminal defense attorney. Along with some student volunteers, they would then re-create a “mini-trial” during a school assembly giving students a first hand, eye opening glimpse into the potential consequences of drinking and driving.

Seminars for Physicians

Periodically over the past 22 years, Mr. Blaylock has been teaching a course for doctors and other health care personnel on how to handle the legal components involved with treating personal injury victims. This seminar has now evolved into a multi-media presentation that is consistently well attended by physicians, their staff, physical therapists, chiropractors and others. Mr. Blaylock has presented this at the top health care facilities in the greater Washington D.C metropolitan area, including the following;

  • Shady Grove Adventist Hospital
  • Fairfax Inova Hospital
  • Washington Adventist Hospital
  • Suburban Hospital
  • Prince George’s County Hospital
  • Holy Cross Hospital
  • Montgomery General Hospital
  • Washington Hospital Center
  • Providence Hospital
  • Frederick Memorial Hospital

Volunteer Organizations

Mr. Blaylock has participated in DC Cares, Meals on Wheels and Martha’s Table, all of which are dedicated to fulfilling the needs of low-income and homeless individuals and families by trying to develop sustainable solutions to poverty. These programs assist in meeting the core needs of their clients with education, nutrition, clothing, and family support programs.
