Importance of Having PIP or Med-Pay On Your Auto Insurance Policies

Many of my automobile accident clients thought they had purchased “full coverage” on their automobile insurance but failed to include PIP or Med-Pay coverage (Personal Injury Protection) in their policy.

How does this happen?

Often an agent will state that you do not need PIP or Med-Pay coverage on your automobile insurance, especially if you have health insurance. This is not true.

Purchasing PIP or Med-Pay Coverage Is A Very Wise Thing To Do.

Why is it important to purchase PIP or Med-Pay coverage on your automobile insurance? The reason is this: In the event of a car accident, PIP or Med-Pay may be able to pay your medical bills without regard to who caused the collision (which is why it is often called “No Fault” coverage).

PIP and Med-Pay are significantly more helpful than health insurance in the following ways:

  • There is no deductible;
  • There is no co-pay;
  • You do not have to get pre-approved care;
  • You can go to any doctor you choose;

Adding PIP or Med-Pay to your automobile insurance policy costs VERY LITTLE.

We recommend having at least $10,000 of PIP or Med-Pay coverage on your automobile policy. This provides strong protection at a minimal price.
